Stress-Free Catalina

Catalina on a Greenline 39

Three days at Catalina without running a generator? Yes, this is our new “Off Grid” yachting reality. The 39 Greenline Hybrid designers seem to have had Catalina style boating in mind, when they created a boat with 1200 Watts of Solar power integrated right into the roof. 13+ KW of LiPo battery capacity and serenity.

Carol and I started out with a silent cruise in Newport Harbor and as we cleared the Jetty, flipped the switch and we were on the 220 HP Volvo diesel power and a smooth 12 knot trip to White’s Cove. As we approached the island a flip of the switch and we were back on silent electric cruise. We cruised around showing off her silent power, found a great spot at Hen Rock and picked up the mooring. The next 3 days living on the boat, cooking, refrigeration, Hot water & AC/Heat all on battery power with the Solar Panels keeping the batteries charged. Saturday night we enjoyed lobster on the island with our friends from Balboa Yacht Club. Sunday morning Mimosas and then the leisurely cruise back home to our slip in Newport Harbor.

I would love to share my experiences on board our Greenlines and introduce you to Silent Yachting. Come check out this fabulous boat, we have a new one on order here at Bayport Yachts.
