The Road to becoming a Yacht Salesperson

Well I guess it was inevitable..  I owned my first boat at age 15 and over the next 40 years have owned over a dozen boats ranging from 15’ to 80’.   Hell, my first date with my wife involved outings on 3 separate boats (She knew what she was in for) and of course our wedding, we used one of my boats as a limo to and from the Yacht club for the ceremony.   In the mid 90’s I obtained my 100 Ton Captain’s License and chose to make life on the water my career.  Over the last 25 years  I have done deliveries up and down the West coast, owned and operated a very busy private dinner cruise operation on San Francisco Bay, run various charter boats on the Bay and on the Sacramento river and have had the opportunity to teach newer boaters the do’s and don’ts of boating.

Several years ago I purchased a 46 Carver Motor Yacht through Bayport Yachts with JR Means.  It was a great experience and I greatly appreciated JR’s professionalism and expertise on the process.  Hell, he had to get on a plane to meet me at the boat.  Shortly after, we got to talking and discussed getting my Yacht Salesperson license and to come and work for him.  Fast forward a few years and here I am.  Having been in sales most of my life, it was a natural progression and having the chance to share my passion for the water and spend time on various boats.  Very Cool !!  It has really worked out great as I am located in Northern California and can help our clients that are up this way and bring a quality my expertise to what can be a complicated buying/selling process. Bayport is known as a Brokerage of professionals that cruise through your entire boating experience long after the intial purchase.

Not many people have the chance to turn their passion into a fulfilling career.  For that I am blessed.

Give me a call and let my boat/yacht ownership experience assist you in finding your second boat first.
